Worship at Moorestown and Mount Laurel
Our worship takes the form of an unprogrammed, largely
silent Meeting for Worship. Worship begins when the first
person enters the meeting room and settles
into silent worship.
We believe that, through silent prayer and meditation, each
of us can communicate directly with God. Sometimes a Meeting
for Worship will be entirely silent, but frequently individual
worshippers feel called by God to share a question, an insight,
or perhaps a prayer. We try to be open to such messages and to their
spiritual promptings.
Worship ends when a designated member on the facing bench
shakes the hand of a neighboring worshipper. We then all shake
hands with our neighbors.
Following worship, visitors are introduced, announcements
are made, and we then enjoy refreshments and fellowship in an
adjacent room.
You will notice that we have no clergy, do not observe any
sacraments or rituals and do not pass a collection plate.
If you have an interest in participating in a Meeting for
Worship, we invite you to join us at either of our
meetinghouses in Moorestown (Sundays at 10 a.m.) and Mount Laurel
(Sundays at 10:30 a.m.). If you prefer, please contact the meeting
office (856-235-1561) beforehand so that we can greet you as you
arrive. Otherwise, simply come in and worship with us.
